NO! even if he wanted, no new planning permission will be given for tall buildings. It's obvious that you don't live in London or otherwise you'd know better. "The City" has not been in control of the UK economy for many years. You need to look at the Docklands (Canary Wharf) for that now. As for improving the economy, the financial sector has lost thousands of jobs over the past two to three years. This year alone saw the sacking of over 1,000 of the top earners (those on £1million+ a year). In the banking sector, the UK has lost tens of thousands and the insurance sector has also got rid of 10s of thousands. Nobody, including Trump, would invest in the UK when companies are collapsing, the finance sector is collapsing and as for Insurance? At the moment, Greater London has some major Redevelopment Schemes on the go and when the building of the Olympic Village, Stadium etc. gets off the ground, East London will get a much improved economy. Kings Cross / St Pancras area is being redeveloped and the Eurostar Terminal will improve the economy in that area. As a final point, what use is it to have a load of empty skyscrapers and a poor economy? The poorest workers are leaving London as it's already too expensive. Unless you have a spare £1/2 million pounds, you can't even buy a flat in most areas. Let's take a look at your vision, loads of skyscrapers and a city full of mega rich trader and dealers (stock market). The streets are full of rotting rubbish and infested with rats because there are no street cleaners etc. as London is too expensive for working class people to live in. The sewers are overflowing and a building has been burning for three days due to no sewer workers and no fire brigade. At night time, the gangs come into London and once past the "armed" security barriers, they rob, rape and destroy property. Where are the civil police? London doesn't have a police force as police officers won't live in London because it's too expensive to live in. Instead, the rich people have to hire "armed" security guards (ex-policemen). If somebody has a problem with their telephone line, it will cost them at least £400 just to get an engineer to call. Is that what you want? A Donald Trump (more like a Donald Duck) empire in London?
