Don't you think they should just give knighthood to Ringo & George, already?!

I do.

Yeah, Paul totally deserves it & Paul is my fave, but I do think the whole band oughta have it too. It was *The Beatles*, man. It would not've been the same w/o each member: John, Paul, George & Ringo.

(yes, I know it's all just symbolic, but..)

Can they knight people postumously?

*sigh*

I miss John and George.

Agree. The whole lot got MBEs as part of a group back in the 60s, and they should always be treated as a collective.

Mind you, the Palace works in funny ways.

Macca has gone a little respectable lately, what with writing "serious" orchestra music, and donating bits of his billions to worthy causes in Liverpool and elsewhere.

Against that, the Concert For Bangladesh was the precursor to all music charity efforts, so a nod to George would be in order.

Where's the logic, eh?

It's a bit similar to the case of plain ol' Mr Keith Richards and Sir Michael Phillip Jagger.

Now, Mick's been just as bad a boy as his songwriting partner - let's face it - but gets to hobnob with the Queen.

Little wonder a disgruntled Keef called it "a paltry honour" : )

I don't think it's possible to get a symbolic knighthood after your death. I think you have to be alive to get one, but I could be wrong.

Really, how much more honored could George be, though? If they really wanted to honor George, they should make a George Harrison Tribute ukulele. He was a big fan of the instrument and it would probably have amused him greatly to have a ukulele in his honor. It would appeal to his Monty Pythonesque sense of humor (he helped fund a lot of the Python movies, and he's even in "Life of Brian" for about five seconds).

I couldn't agree more, and especially about George. Both his work with the band and his solo stuff is legendary.

It is symbolic, but this would be a symbol of their impact on music. As you said, the four of them made that impact together.

Absolutely....except for John.....mainly because I can't see John (provided he was still alive) requesting his MBE back (which he gave up in the early 70's as part of protest to the Viet Nam War)and being gung-ho about joining royalty and knighthood...John is still my fav...

I have always maintained that if the Queen knighted *one* of them then she should have knighted *all* of them.

Yes, knighthood may be bestowed posthumously.
