Here's a suggestion for a $10 trip I found to Fung Wah:
JFK to Chinatown Bus
Catch the free shuttle from JFK to the subway (there is an information desk near baggage claim, they can tell you where to catch it)

Take the A line to Canal St., then walk a few cross town blocks to the Fung Wah Bus depot (139 Canal St.). They leave almost every hour for Boston, cost $10 one way. (currently in a price war with Greyhound)

Fung Wah Bus. 18 buses daily.

From NYC: 139 Canal St (at Bowery).

to Boston: 700 Atlantic Ave, South Station, gate 25.

info: 212-925-8889, 718-438-3300.

nyc subway directions: take either B, or D to Grand St then walk two blocks south to Canal. Alternatively, take either 6, N, Q, R, J, M, Z to Canal St and walk 7-8 blocks east to the Bowery.

Travel Pack/Lucky Star. 15 buses daily.

From NYC: 69 Chrystie St, at Hester St.

to Boston: 700 Atlantic Ave, South Station gate 13.

info: 888-881-0887

nyc subway directions: take either B, or D to Grand St then walk one block south to Hester. Alternatively, take either 6, N, Q, R, J, M, Z to Canal St and walk 7-8 blocks east to the Bowery, and one block north to Hester.

Boston Deluxe. 3 buses Fri, Sat, Sun

from NYC pickup/dropoff #1: newsstand, 1250 Broadway, at 32nd St
from NYC pickup/dropoff #2: coffeeshop, Second Ave, and E 86th St.

to Hartford, CT: Charter Oak Supermarket, 365 Capitol Ave

then to Boston: Christian Science Plaza, 175 Huntington Ave

How do I get to the New York bus station? Take the B or D train, then get off at the Grand Street Station. When you get out of the station, you'll see Chrystie Street. We are located at 69 Chrystie Street, next to Comfort Inn which is currently under construction. This is for Lucky Star, I would strongly suggest NOT using the Fung Wah busses, they seem to be very unsafe. I am not to informed on the NYC subway system, best bet for a more reliable answer I would ask the question in the NYC category.

The orange line goes into Chinatown. Get on the red line at JFK, take it to Washington Street Stop, head up to the orange line and go one stop to Chinatown. From there you'll need to walk over to where the Fung Wah bus picks you up. No cost to change trains, so the cost would be about $2.50

You can take a train (Amtrak to South Station then walk to Boston's China Town) but it will run you a whole lot more than $12.

You can check rates on Amtrak.com
