Actually a higher percentage of the population hated Abe Lincoln in the summer of 1844 than hate dubya now. Ol Abe would love to have had approval ratings as high as Bush's. Or even the lower ratings of congress for that matter.

George Bush Senior was a short blip on the radar.

The left hates George W because they felt that he stole the election from Al Gore, despite all the evidence over the years (from left-leaning media source like the Washington Post) that Bush did indeed win. Then, after 4 years of the left's bitterness over the election, he was re-elected. That did it. Now, George W could cure cancer and poverty and the left would attack him for it.

No, there is a huge difference between the two.
Bush Sr. was an inept politician but personally likable.
His son however, is an impertinent, repulsive, uncouth traitor, who through his destructive and ill-advised actions has put this country into a very dangerous position.

The Democrats were cruel to this great man. Time has shown the American people how he was unfairly treated. The Clintons and Gores actually referred to him as "Bush" or Mr. Bush in his failed re-election campaign. This was the first time that this low level of disrespect was ever publicly displayed. I will never forget it and personally hate the Clintons and Gores because of their selfish Machiavellian ways.

No. Americans at least don't seem to feel the personal animosity toward Bush, Sr. as they do for his son. Maybe because Bush, Sr. didn't make the entire world hate us.
