He is 7 weeks old & I've taken him to the doctor's who have said it will just go on it's own & there's nothing they can prescribe for it. But his nose is so bunged up & mucasy his breathing is a lot more difficult than normal. Has anyone been through this & can you suggest anything?? I took his temperature last night & it indicated a low fever but is back to normal this morning. Any idea how long these viral infections last?

You can buy little nose suctions to clear his poor little nose. If it's viral, there really isn't a whole lot you can do. Just keep an eye out for signs of an ear infection (my kid got those everytime he was sick).

my son got like that too when he was about 4 weeks, we used something called hydrasense which is a nasal spray of sea water, completely safe for baby and it worked wonders for our son. You can also use infant saline drops.

When a doctor tells you something will "just go on his own", it's time for another opinion and definitely another doctor.
