When a marble rolls onto the bottom of the can.
How should I cut and shape the can to create the loudest and most distinct sound.

I am guessing you are making a marble game in which the final step for the marble is hitting the inside of a can.

If it is a children's toy I would worry about having a sharp edge on that coke can. Rather than a coke can you might want to get a steel can because it will not deaden the sound as much (still a sharp edge issue that you will need to deal with).

Support the can above the bottom of the toy so that the bottom will not have its sound deadened when the marble drops in. If the game doesn't need a lot of marbles you could use a large ball bearing instead of a marble - more weight and harder material will make more sound.

From what I understand, you're going to roll a marble onto the bottom of a coke can to make a noise and you want to know what you can do to the can to make it sound the loudest. I'm afraid to ask why!

I would think this would have to do more with the position of the can than cutting it up; however, I would cut the top off.

With all due respect, I hope I won't be the only one confused by your Q.

Loudness would be deadened no matter what the shape,,, by anything the can itself comes in contact with, beyond just the marble.

BUT... without at all knowing your purpose I';ll back out now before taking much more time.
