Once UK's politics & politicians were also totally corrupted like India's. Today, I am sure that UK's politics is corruption free or atleast many times better than Indian politics. One time Margaret Thatcher mentioned that Indian politics will get out of corruption like the way UK did. I am very curious to know how UK managed to do that. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I agree. Still there may be corruption in UK. But when compared with older days isn't reduced ?? ( FYI, I don't know much about UK's politics. That is why I have posted this question ). Thank you.

I think corruption was almost eradicated by the end of the 19th century in the Civil Service due to high pay 9in comparison with industry and pensions almost non-existent in industry) but i do not think it was only ever more or less contained in government. I seem to notice that this was being edged away as government powers increased giving more opportunity to the extent that every time I hear of judicial enquiry or scientific investigation on behalf of the government I ask how wide or narrow the terms of reference are. The crunch for me came in the Hutton enquiry when witnesses were not obliged to give evidence on oath. This meant Government witnesses could and did lie to their hearts content with no possibility of any consequences. On the contrary one person at least was promoted.
In conclusion I no longer feel that the government or indeed local councils are anything but corrupt and that the situation is getting worse with the influence of the European Economic Community

Its still there. I believe Tony Blair to be totally the kind of man who could be bought for the right price. Most of his actions were the result of self interest.

The EU is also deeply corrupt and unfair and I for one would love to be out of it.

I think that the British Government are just better at concealing it. Also, as captainstarkiller says, any corruption wil be very covert because of stringent anti-bribery laws in this country.

India's government is still relatively young since Independence, however, and you have to give yourselves a chance!

I have total faith that Indian politics will sort itself out over time.

Don't know about that, if you ask me the corruption comes from Brussels. We just have to look at the number of British politicians that have changed their minds about the EU to see that. I keep asking how much they have been paid or promised to change their minds and go back on election promises. At least the corruption is visible in India.

Enough knowledge and funding to implement a public service system that promotes transparency and accountability. A quality education system, accessable health, water, sanitation, law and justice that works and welfare - these all remove some of the reasons corruption happens. Enough people that get the quality of life they need and it will be supported by ethical behaviour by the majority. Sure corruption will occur, but the critical mass can control it. It's all about the economy!!

We have lies corruption, false promises, fiddling, and they don't even get the sack, we need to throw the lot out and start fresh as they are all as bad as each other, they run each other down and then do the same, so you cant even say they don't know what is right or wrong.

British politics is extremely corrupt. However, politicians are fairly accountable because the media is so antagonistic towards them, so they usually get found out in the end.

good question . i dont really know but there needs to be a good leader whom can then decide on the staff he employs. the problem in some countries is that politicians are out for themselves and dont care about their people. as for India i would of thought it is promising as they are becoming a powerfull country. just need the right leader
