I went to see a famly planning dr and he explained to me abt all the methods of birth control...i ended up choosing the pill which is taken for 21 days. He told me soo much that i ended up not getting the time to ask the most important question. How soon does the pill become effective?? The first day or a few days after??

PS: i started my P's yesterday morning so yesterday evening was my 1st day to take the pill. I am 25yrs.

If you started taking it straight away, you have to follow the 7 day rule, which basically means your not protected for 7 days and have to use other protection in the meantime. If you started taking it as soon as your period finished you should be protected straight away. You Pill should have come with an awfully long booklet inside the packet which has all the info you'd ever need to know. Have a look and see what it says. Most pills you have to wait 7 days though, and if you miss a pill you wait 7 days, so I might be safe to wait for 7 just in case. Hope I helped!

Usually it takes 14days for the pill to be effective if you start taking it the first day of your period.
Ring doc and check though, but thats what my doc has always said about my pill's.

use a back up method for at least a month
