I'm a math teacher, or I used to be. In my experience:
- I have seen students who are weak in math pass easily with A's and B's with just one or two hours of tutoring a week.
- Look at the homework assignment before the tutor comes. Write down any questions you may have. Even if all you can say is "It's Greek to me","I don't understand it". The tutor will go through the assignment with you step by step, making sure you understand it. Then you'll have something to hand in.
- How about your eyes? Can you see what is being written on the board? If you can't, get eyeglasses and wear them, or ask the teacher to give you a seat toward the front.
- Your parents are willing to spend their hard earned money to help you out. It's an enormous opportunity. Don't pass it up.

Have a tutor? Let me tell you from my experience...I needed help in math when I was younger. My parents wanted to get me a tutor. I didn't listen to them. I hated Math. I wanted to avoid it at all costs. People kept telling me ," Math won't leave you alone. Where ever you go, people will test you on Math and you will need math when you grow up." I thought they were kidding, but No. They were right.
I didn't listen to my parents and I didn't put effort from my side, so when I got to college, I suffered. First of all, in order to graduate from any school , they test you in Math. Doesn't matter if you want to get a degree from High school or community college or your professional degree, you have Math everywhere.
I would advice for you to deal with it now and you will have easy time in te future.

If you don't want a tutor, offer alternatives. Show your parents what you'll do instead. Maybe say you are taking online tutoring like http://www.tuitionplaza.com/tutoring/

you hate math. . . ?
me too, i'm actually allergic to it!! haha. . .
but in school, this is a requirement. . . and we must at least, get a passing score in this subject since it is one of the major subject. . .
and this is a requirement, for you to graduate in that school. . .
in your tutor part, if you really don't want to have one. . . then at least, show to your parents that you have an improvement in math and you could do this in your own. . .
because, if they couldn't see the improvement, they will force you to have the tutorial. . .
good luck with the math subject!!
you could ask some math questions to me sometimes, then maybe i could help you out. . . hehe. .
