W went on holiday a few weeks ago and took a little inflatable paddling pool for the beach, my son loved his inflatable float for when he was in the pool, also I wish I had only taken enouh wipes and nappies for the first day or 2 as they sold pampers and j&j stuff there and I could have had much more spare room in his pram bag.

Sedative?? No just kidding!!! I think one of the best things you can do is get some new small toys. Only give him one at a time when he gets bored with the last one. Something familiar like his pillow or blankey and a good stroller is a must! something easily transportable for travelling.
And bring lots of patience. He may be tense and unsettled if he has to sleep in a strange place so by aware of that. My kids (even now at age 5) get restless when they are somewhere new thats why we bring homey smellings things like their pillow etc....
Good luck and have fun! Don't forget the camera!

portugal is a very child friendly, when i was there a few year ago no matter where i went they couldn't do enought for you. our hotel supplied a lot of baby equipment for a small fee, buggy, sterliser, travel cot etc, which saved a lot of packing. also the shops had pampers nappies.a lot of restaurants had little playareas so kids could amuse themselves while we ate, for all age groups. just bring a favourite teddy, and maybe some rattlers or teething rings, trust me, you don't need much. we bought a little ring for our baby to sit in and he spent the day in the pool bobbing about having a ball watching the other kids. enjoy,

take disposable bibs if you can..saves washing them.take fave toy of course!...and a comfortable pram for nigh time naps if you are out for the evening, with a nice thin blanket. at 7 months you dont need to worry about sterilising..but if abroad you cant be too carefull so i would just do it for the holiday.and i found the formula in single cartons ready made a godsend too!
edit: i bought a safety first booster seat which inflates ,it deflates back small into a small back pack

when we went to cyprus last year we made all of our bottles and then bought those ready made cartons at the airport so that we had enough for throughout the night next day etc. i also bouught sterilzing bags from boots and the tablets to go with them. you just simply fill up the bags with water and put in the tablets and pop your bottles in. at least you know your bottles are clean. take enough nappies and wipesfor the flight and next day as you can buy these abroad.

Some of his favourite books and toys so he will feel more comfortable.
Babies at that age can be quite unsettled in strange places, so make sure you bring his favourite things to play with.
Other than that i really reccommend giving him plenty of water while away and keep a hat on him all the time.
Good luck and enjoy your holiday.

Hi a must for me was knee pads!
Seriously, they sell baby knee pads for crawling tots on ebay.....item no 150150254027
They are great as you can have baby in their shorts/cossie etc so keeping cool and they can crawl around without getting sore knees. They dont have to wear pants then...
Most hotels/appts have hard stone floors and around the poolside is even worse (obvously dont leave them by poolside crawling!) and kids knees get scraped and stones in them. These protect them.
Invaluable!!!
Check them out.....p.s get a spare pair incase they crawl in something sticky or messy!

One of those pop up tents (if you have room in your case) - thy are brilliant for on the beach or by the pool and stop baby getting hot and fractious which means you get to spend more time in the sun!
