Working out releases hormones into your body (you know those ones that make you feel so good after a nice long jog!) and can change the taste of your milk slightly. Some babies don't mind, although some cannot stand it.

Pump a little milk before going to the gym incase bub chooses he doesn't like the taste (baby can go on breast strike from the changed taste but it isn't very common).

Take it slowly and I'm sure the taste will be fine. I've heard of women with poor supplies who started swimming or going yoga 2-3 times per week and suddenly they were filling up the freezer with expressed milk. Everyone is different though.

Keep up the obvious, loads of water (like LOADS), healthy meals, and rest when you can.

Awesome job hitting the gym at 3 months post partum, thats impresive!

The only thing I've heard is to try not to breastfeed just after working out as your body releases certain toxins into your bloodstream that may alter breastmilk... perhaps it doesnt taste the same as usual. If you wait a bit after working out or are like me and dont push yourself too hard you shouldnt have any issues at all. Good for you to start working out again so soon after your baby was born. It took me 18mths to find my way into a gym again, lol.

See the link below for an article on exercise and nursing women. I'll copy one of the paragraphs for you:
Breast milk composition after exercise of different intensities.

Carey GB, Quinn TJ, Goodwin SE
University of New Hampshire, USA.

The purpose of this study was to determine if breast milk composition changed significantly following exercise conducted at different intensities. Nine postpartum women exercised on a treadmill up to maximal oxygen uptake (100% of VO2max) on the first laboratory visit, for 30 minutes on two subsequent occasions (50% and 75% of VO2max) and also performed a nonexercise control session. Blood and breast milk were collected prior to exercise, immediately after exercise, and at 30, 60, and 90 minutes postexercise. Blood samples were analyzed for lactic acid (LA) while milk samples were analyzed for LA, pH, lipid, ammonium, and urea. Milk LA after the 100% intensity session was significantly elevated through 90 minutes postexercise, while there was no significant increase in milk LA at any collection time after the 50% or 75% intensity sessions. There were no significant differences in milk pH, lipid, ammonium, or urea measurements after any of the exercise sessions. These data show that unlike maximum intensity exercise, moderate intensity exercise does not increase breast milk LA content.

I really like breastfeeding.com's articles as well, very simple and easy to read, so I've copied their site too for an article relating to exercise. Like these are showing, in most cases there should be no side effects (unless you really push yourself and then lactic acid may be higher - but it's up to your baby if they are going to reject your milk or not. It didnt matter what I ate, my daughter was going to drink my milk. I'd just laugh when someone would tell me, oh dont eat that or your daughter won't like your breastmilk. Ha ha, there's no milk she's willing to turn down!).

No, I don't think so. If anything it is probably really good for you. I exercised and breastfed both my babies till 7-8mths and my supply was fine. After 3mths, your supply would be pretty stable so your body should adjust well.
Good luck and congrats on B/F! So many people I know don't give it a go anymore. Its such a shame.

No! Not even a tiny difference! Good luck with the gym.

I breastfed both my boys for 10 months, I started working out and found that it actually helped my milkflow! x

Just make sure you drink enough. If you aren't replacing what you're sweating out, that might dry you up a bit.
