Your question presupposes a God. If there is no God, then your question about purpose is meaningless.
The very idea that we can create or invent our purpose is nonsense. It is equivalent to our saying that we did create ourselves.
So if there is purpose, there is God. To seek purpose, we must seek God. In fact, it can only be that God put our great need for purpose into our human nature in order to get us to seek Him.

Different people have very different lives. My reasons to exist are different from yours. Spot and appreciate your own reasons. There are always many more reasons to exist than not to. Have the wisdom to see that. meanwhile. have a good life. It's small small joys and things and reasons. Dont seek philosophical answers to a question that has been so easily asked forever. Know that it's the simple things that are the most meaningful.
Read, watch, love, Be happy. Don't seek reasons. Let them find you.

We need to exist in this world because it is where we belong. There are no other planets where man could survive. The relevance of our life is to know the true meaning of life. and the true meaning of life is to value the importance of our life. To know one's life and the life of others e.i. all the existing creatures here on earth. Otherwise absence of which makes a person unhappy and is not fit to live.

As a christian, I personally believe in Jesus Christ as the purpose for our life. His death on the cross and resurrection for our wrong doings can make a lot of sense in a world that is slowly eroding away through lack of moral values and selfish attitudes.
If you have access to a Bible, look up the first book Genesis and read how we were meant to live without evil in the world. Compare this to how we live today and I think you will notice some very big differences! If you still are interersted in exploring this faith more, read the book of Matthew in what is called the New Testament. This is an historical account of Jesus life and death on the cross. Jesus is a normal man with a big claim - to be the Son of God. His resurection after his death on the cross (crucifixation was a Roman death penality if you like) was the penalty he paid himself, for everyone else in the world to be free from suffering.
This is not to say life is easy all of the time. Far from it. For me personally, christainity has helped me make sense of the mess the world finds itself in from time to time.
Hope this has helped you understand a bit more of what I think the purpose for living is

I'm with Scuba Steve.
Live is a miracle, so live it up.
The only thing more fascinating than the notion that a god created human beings is the idea that one didn't...and that we are a product of the universe's natural processes. Amazing.
There will never be a privilege more powerful than being alive.

There is no "purpose". If there were people would be falling all over each other offering help or assistance. As it is we each live our own exsistance and do what we will. That is why we are diverse. Which is why we had Mother Theresa and Hitler.

Just as we decide to have families God has made you his family. We are children of God his wish for us is to believe in Him and Jesus , to help others and live our lives according to the Wisdom he has given us through the Bible.
If we choose him then we will enter his Kingdom for eternity.

Our life is defined by what we learn and believe. It is my believe that the purpose of life is simply to learn and grow in experience. We are to aspire, to better ourselves in anyway possible.

I think it works like this. You're living because you have something you need to accomplish in your life.
