you know,Maddy's parents left her with her siblings in hotel room but I have NOTHING against her parents.I just give an example..I can't speak English very well,so..it's bit difficult toexplain my question..I just think I would never leave my children on their own in hotel room.Ok,maybe for ten mins but I would not go to any restaurant...I'm not mother myself but I took care of two children(i was au-pair) and I was so protective.Would you go out and leave there?
Dont compare my question to what happened to Maddy.I'm just interested if you would leave them
So..no rude answers!

no way i think that when you have children your life changes and if it means being in a hotel room from 7pm onwards then thats the way it should be, i feel terrible for Maddy's parents but it is they're own fault I would never do it the life of my children means so much more then a beer down the pub.

depends on the age of the child.

Many parents think their children are going to make good decisions in emergencies, which isn't the case.

We had a report called in and the assessment worker was going out to the home the next day. That night the 3 year-old was playing with matches and destroyed their bedroom. In a crib was a newborne. Two kids are dead!

Anyway, a relative in Utah left his son in his truck for a few minutes belted in a carseat. He didn't return for a couple of hours and his son was gone. They found his son frozen to death not far from where the truck was. They charged him, it made national news, and the day of the sentencing, he committed suicide!

The message is that too often only bad things happen when you are not alert and watching. They can happen when you are, and they do! And it only takes a second!

You don't leave young children alone. It may be convenient and you may be able to rationalize it, but too often it ends in a tragedy that could have been prevented!

Most of these parents are good parents, but all it takes is one lapse! People think I am kidding but I can list for you the outcomes of several hundred of my assessments that the parents wish they could get those few minutes back.

Children are not little adults, and every parent should know in how little time they can put themselves in danger.

I live in awe that children even grow up to be adults! And not because of their parents.

Sometimes, when I was younger, I felt like ringing parents necks, but you get used to all the bad things that happen, many for decisions not well though out!

Would I have left them. No! If I had found them they would no longer be in the custody of their parents!

Maddy's case was a disaster waiting to happen. The parents should be charged for criminal neglect as there is NO excuse for what they did! NONE!

Your English is good for a non native. Better than many of the natives!

I have to say that I wouldn't leave my child in a hotel room on his own, not even for ten minutes. It does seem though that many people do just that. I wouldn't leave him in the house on his own and we live in a safe area, so I certainly wouldn't do it in an area I knew next to nothing about! I also wouldn't use babysitting facilities at a hotel because I won't leave my son with a stranger.

The McCann's are so yesterday, they got their " get out of jail free" card by either threatening to sue , suing or using papal dispensation to show the world they were not the world most negligent parents or horrendous irresponsible adults that abandoned their own child so they could go to a piss up. When Richard Branson is paying your bills its open slather Yes why they were never charged with gross negligence is beyond me but then it might have something to do with double jeopardy, If they are charged and found guilty of negligence it makes the murder case difficult. It is a matter of time, The McCann's know the truth , the police know the truth but knowledge and proof are two different things. The police will get them , it will take time and effort , maybe even a new scientific approach but the hammer will fall. And I hope they are still alive when it does. Worst case scenario is that they know what they have done and as such devout Catholics they know where they are going when their life is over because of their sin.

We had to stay on a hotel for over a week when we had a housefire. I new the area well. I didn't leave my kids alone unless I went to the ice machine. They are 12 & 14!

SO NO WAY!!!! ESPECIALLY my 12 year old who looks older. YOU never know what animal is stalking children!

i have 3 kids, ages 13, 11 and 6, i puzzle often about what is the right thing to do when needing to leave them. i get a babysitter in when i am working although the oldest hates that, i have left the 2 older ones at home alone for a short time before and feel relatively comfortable doing that, i do have my sister living next door so i guess im lucky with that. i would never leave my wee one alone, i freak out when she goes out of my sight when we are out. she does get to play outside with her friends but never alone, i sometimes let her take the dog out with her for protection!

im a strange place, i would not leave any of my kids alone. regardless of their age. i am responsible for them and any thing that happens to them so i wont do it.

i know that folk will see your question as a dig at the mcanns and i can see why but i do think it is a valid thing to ask, there has been so much said about them, that im not gonna add to it, but personally, i would not leave my kids alone in a hotel room.

No, I wouldnt leave my kids of that age alone to pop next door for a coffee, never mind in a large strange hotel while i dined at a restuarant. Dont get me wrong, my heart goes out to the McCanns, but I certainly wouldnt.

Not even for a minute. Regardless of the faint possibility that they may get kidnapped there are always dangers around the house and if you're not there that increases the risk. Also they may get upset if they are left on their own. So I repeat not even for a minute, let alone go out for dinner :(

No, i wouldn't. I would maybe go out for ten minutes, but not for longer, and certainly not when they were only 2/3 years old. The McCans are obviously really neive people, and frankly I would hope that when they return to the UK, social services remove their other 2 children from their care. It's not just that someone could abduct them, but they could have hurt themselves in a number of other ways.
