If cell phones were to cost 10x more than it costs now (both the cost of the unit as well as load/ airtime charges), could you cope?

What would be your coping method?

Live on an island. Forsake all contact with the rest of mankind. Live in peace and harmony with nature.

And take the Viva Hot Babes with me.

I can as i don't have one right now, I am still living. I make my appointments ahead of time, and never fail to meet them. I don't wait, late of time. Maybe owning one,s time on a job makes this possible. As with domestic appointments, home is where we meet at a day,s end and arrange schedules and activities for tomorrow. Notes and reminders on doors or windows or any commonplace in the house can help. It's old fashioned but handwritten letters and greeting cards are more personal and everlasting than the cold quickie electronic gadget called the cellphone.

Maybe I can if worst comes to worse and push comes to shove. If cellphones and loads or airtime charges will start skyrocketing to the max, it would be futile to continue using the said gadgets even if the usage of such is expedient. I will have to revert to using landlines and beepers or the two-way radio that became a fad in the latter of 1990.

I am 51 and I got through 50 years without a cell phone and 49 years without a computer.

Someday I believe we will (have to) go back to the way it was without these luxuries and that includes electric and gas...

Look what happend in New Orleans without these things for just a temperary time.

What will happen when it is not a temperery outage.

I can do without a cell phone. At times I feel like I don't have time for myself anymore so I purposely switch off my phone for days, even months. I just have these hermit moments when I want to be disconnected with the world and reflect on life.

Once in anger I broke my phone on the wall and had to do without it for some time. First I felt uncomfortable, but then, when I got my phone back, I often forgot it at home, so unimportant it became to be available to calls.

Prices only matter when you are broke and booty out. So the answer for me is I could not live w/out a cell phone.

But, of course if life is kicking you in the but, then unfortunately your situation would be much different.

That's a big YES! As it is now, I hardly use it. Most of my calls are incoming anyway. It's just handy to have - like for emergencies - but otherwise, life goes on without it.

BUT life without my computer is a different story altogether.

yes, folk of old ages did survive without these modern things we have now. we just feel lucky having them but if they aren't around, we would surely find ways to survive...
