Did you ever watch the program "Aawitan Kita"?

"Aawitan Kita" (translation: I will sing for you) was a program that irritated a lot of people, and at the same time had a loyal fan base.

I do not know if it still airs as a special. What did you think of this show?

my friendz used to sing aahitan kita to mock tita midz. thats what i remember. i think i seen one episode shot in villa escudero with all singers in terno and barong tagalog. its cool but i cant watch it for hours and hours. once in a while its ok. it is like detox taking away noisy music from my system.

i dont think it is still airing. maybe all replays?

I shall make an exception with this question, and make serious remarks.

We need something like that on TV, with a different host, acceptable to the young generation.

So that songs - the old songs of Philippine composers could still be aired, that they may be passed down from generation to generation. And new songs depicting the lives and works of our heroes, translated into the tempo and musical scheme that
would catch the imagination of the young.

College choirs could be invited from all over the islands to air their compositions, and prizes be given, as incentives.

Filipino composers from all over the world and from the 7,000 isles can be invited to submit their works, also with awards.

Aawitan Kita was the longest running tv program showcasing the original pilipino music with filipino singers. without this program and segiuon-reyna's passion for local songs, we may not be able to learn of inate ability to sing. there won't be singers like nonoy zuniga, marco sison, leah salonga or sarah geronimo of today.

I did. At least once maybe twice, but no more than that, a long, long, time ago.

And I remember because it was the only program at its time slot, about close to 12 midnight, at that far away time when tv stations sign off at midnight or 1 in the morning, no cable & dvds yet. so its either that or the white noise screen. or is my memory failing me again.

yes, i know that show but never watched it cuz the hosts are old. hehe aref is right, it would be nice to recreate the show with another host like sara geronimo =)

if i remember, it was showed years ago, i was still in gradeschool i think? and our tv was still black and white hehehe...
i never paid attention to it, i never liked armida in the first place..

ako na lang ang aawit sa yo, like mo? lol...
