I have recentley started dancing once a week and i have noticed that in the past 4 days my breasts are really hurting. Could this be due to exercising? Im pretty sure that im not pregnant as im on the pill. Thanks

Yes, it could be exercise related, especially since you are just starting out with the dance classes. Also, sometimes the pill because of the hormones in it can make the breasts more sore as well. I found that getting a larger sized bra helped to take care of this problem.

I would also recommend getting in touch with your doctor to see what they say.

I am guessing that you are a relatively well endowed girl as this is almost certainly a lack of support it your bra.

Having insufficient support in a bra when you do vigorous activity can lead to the tendons that naturally support you having to work too hard and so becoming sore.

Go to a good ladies outfitter and get properly measured and then buy yourself an appropriate sports bra. This will feel uncomfortable to begin with (much more supportive than you are used to) but will help to prevent to much 'jiggling' and so reduce the pain you are suffering from

Oh yeah, the unfaithful pill. Ok, well about 12 years ago I thought the same thing, while taking Triphasil-28, and correctly may I add. Well, today my almost 12 year old son is as tall as me and forever playing practical jokes on me........go get yourself tested because those "pills" sometimes miss rather than hit and I'm living proof of that, and yes, sore breasts was my very first sign. Take care,

YES! If the dancing is vigorous and you are bouncing up and down alot it could be from that. Try a sports bra when dancing if you do not already have one, and make sure you are fitted properly for the bra.

If could also be your contraceptive pill. Sore breasts are a common side effect!

Breast pain involves any discomfort or pain in the breast, such as premenstrual tenderness.

Considerations:
There are many possible causes for breast pain. For example, hormonal fluctuations related to menstruation or pregnancy are often responsible for breast tenderness. Some degree of swelling and tenderness just before your period is normal. The question is how tolerable (or intolerable) the discomfort is to you.

Although many women with pain in one or both breasts understandably fear breast cancer, breast pain is NOT a common symptom of cancer.

Boys and men have breast tissue. If a male has breast tissue that is visible, this is called gynecomastia. As a normal part of development, adolescent boys can have some breast swelling and tenderness. Like breast tenderness in women, this is due to hormonal changes.

Common Causes:
Some degree of breast tenderness is normal, caused by hormonal fluctuations from:

Menstruation
Pregnancy -- tends to be more common during the first trimester and pregnancy at a young age
Puberty -- in both girls and boys
Breast feeding
Approach of menopause (once your menstrual periods have stopped completely, breast tenderness often goes away unless you are taking hormone replacement therapy)
Soon after childbirth, your breasts may become engorged with milk. This can be very painful and is usually accompanied by swelling. If you also have an area of redness, call your health care provider.

Other common causes of breast pain include:

Fibrocystic breast changes
Mastitis -- a blocked and infected milk duct that may have some redness, usually associated with breastfeeding
Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
Alcoholism with liver damage
Injury

Being on the pill may do it. Ask your doctor or your pharmacist.
