kind of depends on why your saying it and who to. for example it would be cheers if talking to my mate but thankyou if it was my mum or my boss.

Being from the U. S., i'm not used to listening to it. yet I do tend to love the notice. 'thank you' can start to sound so upright and formal, and " cheers " sounds lots extra friendly. No lawsuits right here! Cheers!
