I agree its unfair. I'm Welsh and everyone makes a big fuss of St Davids Day here but my English other half can't celebrate St George's Day.

I think England, Scotland and Wales should all have their national Saints Day as a holiday with lots of parades and celebrations! Its only fair after all.

Live and let live i say. The largest immigrant population in England is Irish and it`s all good fun so why ban it. I think St. George`s day isn`t celebrated because St George wasn`t actually English, i think we should change the day to English day, and celebrate all the good things that have come from this beautiful country, the Arts, the Music, the architects, the beautiful landscape etc

Well I think if we had St. Georges Day it wouldn't be an Issue. We could have the Green Man and fertility goddess parade, Maypoles, Mystery plays, Carnivals of historical figures, satire, dancing, song, merriment and all manner of fayres. We could also include the fact that it's Shakespeares Birthday and have a few of the comedies on the go.
I'm up for it how about the rest of you?

Well as an american i feel compelled to impose my will on all parties involved and suggest a tea party instead. Seriously though, the pound is trading at like 2:1 on the dollar. Take 300 pounds convert them to 600 dollars and have a wicked St. Patty's in Boston on the cheap!

St Patrick wasn't Irish. Let them celebrate in the Irish Republic or go over there to see it. Better still come over to Ulster and watch the 12th.

Why should it be abolished? St Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland. And they celebrate St Patrick's Day around the world.

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but who is St George?

No. Just because us English are far too lazy to make a serious effort to celebrate our country and too afraid of being viewed as racist for showing patriotism, there's no reason to spoil someone elses party.

I think that the church in Rome has decreed that it be moved by three days next year, to avoid clashing with a holy day.
