well it has to be, because Kate said:

"I never worried someone would watch us, break in and then take our daughter away. Why would I?"

So if she never thought someone would break in and steal something valuable, then they must have left their house unlocked right? Because we all know that if it came down to our valuables getting stolen or our children, well its a pretty easy answer isnt it?

So given that she couldnt imagine someone walking into their place and stealing a child, then they obviously mustnt believe someone would come in and steal their valuables, in their house in Rothley.

But Im guessing it is locked. So if it is, why is it more important for the parents to lock a house which contains say a TV and a couch ........ but not important to lock a place that has say 3 children in it?

Cmon Kate, you said it yourself you could never see someone breaking in and taking something of yours, so why lock your house at all then? Unless of course you are out and out lying ....

Faith - She locked the door to her house so her couch wouldnt get stolen, yet leaves the apartment wide open with her children inside. Where am I stating baseless facts?

Good point dave but I don't believe a word Kate and Gerry say. They have lied to the world and bled the media dry. I still think they are guilty of child neglect and I would like to see them investigated for that.

Hmmmm. Theres definately something fishy about all this. But it wasnt just them that left their children alone. What about the friends who's children had been ill yet they still left them, i wouldnt dream of doing that!
If they were all parents why didnt they put all the children together and have one person stay for an hour then swap. And WHY didnt they have a baby monitor?
Even if they didnt foresee Maddie being abducted she could have got up and wandered around the apartment playing with kettles, hairdriers, plug sockets. Shes in a strange country where you cant drink the tap water and she cant read, what if she'd drank something that was poisonous, you cant baby proof a holiday apartment.
I had real pity for them, but i have just read some answers on here and seen the photos and the huge swimming pool between the restaurant and the apartment, im disgusted that anyone could leave children in a situation like that, and i can really see Daves point.

I don't think I am an "over the top, over protective parent" but I have always worried that someone might oneday, if given the opportunity come into my house and take my little boy.

When it is hot at night, I cannot bring myself to leave his bedroom window open, even just the small window incase someone climbs up in the night.

When we are in the house, the front door is locked (also to stop the little man getting out, just in case he is in an exploring mood). I never leave our lounge windows open unless I am in the room with him.

I still feel relaxed and am not a panicky parent, but I know too well about providing these scum with an opportunity on a plate.

The McCann couple have suffered an unimaginable loss and yet these pages are littered with nasty ,mean-minded comments based on no evidence at all other than that which exists in a rancid imagination. I can just picture the sucked-in cheeks, pursed lips and nodding heads.
This is not a soap opera where everyone is entitled to an opinion, however outlandish.
Some of you would do well to remember the French dictum:
Honi soit qui mal y pense !

If shes the trusting soul methinks she is, i don't doubt she does leave her door unlocked when she pops down the lane to buy some bread. I do!.very safe neighbourhood..honest! (but' i'd never leave my child inside...he comes with me!).

Tho', as you know, i do not condone them leaving their babies unattended, your comparison of her leaving her house unlocked, to her leaving their hotel room unlocked is weak, as they've been away from home for months now & the hotel room was unlocked for a matter of hours (during which they claim they were checking on their precious children).

Edit: To claim that Kate is lying or that she values her couch more than her kids, is baseless & cruel.

Edit: I clarify: She locked her house as she left the country for a holiday. She kept the holiday hotel room unlocked (NOT WIDE OPEN) as she was having dinner out & checking on her precious children regularly.
Of course, your comparison is baseless!

That she was wrong to leave her children unattended has nothing to do with making such inane & nutty comparisons.
You flounder, Mr.s!

So what angle are we on now? That the child was abducted by strangers or killed (either accidentally or on purpose) by the parents?
Either way, to compare an abduction to a burglary is plain silly. There are about six abductions a year compared to hundreds of burglaries every day. Most burglars would I am sure, never ever steal a child.

Do you lock your house when you're in the garden?
How about when you pop next door?
Or when you've nipped up the road to the postbox?

It's all a matter of degree.

Our neighbour sometimes leaves his 10 year old son alone in the house while he goes out for a few minutes, and he always tells us so we can keep an eye on things. Should he change his behaviour in case someone is watching and might kidnap the boy?

Life is about making judgement calls. In hindsight, the McCanns made a poor call which has had disasterous consequences. I know they would wish to have done something different, but we have to live with our actions.

Let's support them, not add to their problems.

These are words from someone obviously never been robbed.Note to cliffe-climber, my door, and car is always locked even when i'm in the house. People who have been robbed, and that is only of personal possessions will know where i'm coming from. McCann hasn't a clue about the world she's living in.

The McCanns could of took the Babysitting service to look after the kids, so that's put your argument to bed!!!
