You need to check and be sure your wireless card is turned ON on your laptop. Most laptops have a wireless switch to enable and disable the wireless adapter, if it is turned off the system will not see it and will not be able to connect through it, thus the "Cable unplugged" message. You are only seeing the ethernet port!

You can also check it by going to control panel ---> network connections and be sure your Wireless Connection is enabled and shows available.

not sure
first of all reset the linksys router by pressing the button on the back of the router and start to set up the router from square one
The older routers were set to zero security
The newer ones have some security settings on
There will be setup instructions in the box or call linksys
you enter a address in internet explorer or firefox of
192.168.1.1

Here is a guide:

Set the wireless encryption off
Secondly set the beacon on
It may be turned off by default
Actually even now if you set your wireless card to reveive from "linksys" it may now work
The newer routers turn off the beacon for security reason
Your wireless card may not know to connect to "linksys"
Lastly
if you can figure out how - change the channel of your wireless router
from the channel 6 to channel 1 or 11 ( or anything but 6)
Your neighbour'w wireless signal may be drifting in
You will see your router signal but have no internet
