Did Windows detect the drive correctly and install the needed drivers?
Whats ur OS - Win 98 or Xp?
Try changing the IDE cable and c if it works
Else, try changing the Jumper settings on the drive to Slave/Master depending on ur setup with a hard drive..
Else, fix the drive in another PC and check if it works..If so, then the drive is not faulty...
Also check if the BIOS is able to detect the drive correctly..Also check the power cable
Do rate if it helped...

If your PC works with CD ROM, it should work with a CD writer. Check the jumper setting on that CD writer. If you are connecting it at the end connector of the ribbon cable, jumper should be master, if at the mid part of the cable, set jumper as slave. If connected correctly, it should be detected by BIOS and activated in Windows.

Celeron is pron to hang. So what u should do is u should upgrade ur ram to 256. Plus u need to disable ur virus scan or any of the application. DO NOT DISABLE THE WINDOWS EXPLORER.
- if all this fails, u should get a new computer at least a pentium 3 processor with windows 98 to windows me. Do not use xp or better. Celeron is the cause to that problem

at least get a Pentium 4 processor with 1.5GHz and 256MB ram. celeron processors have small cache memory and your ram is small it will not take the battering your CD writer will inflict on them. When you are copying files to a CD, the files will be copied first on you RAM and on your CPU's cache before . Imagine copying to a regular 500MB CD using your 128 RAM and 512KB of cache, 2MB the most on your processor, the system will surely halt. Upgrade your system man there are compatible P4 processors for motherboards that support celeron processors. Also upgrade your RAM to at least 512MB.

ya this problem is mainly due to low ram.
get your ram increased. the processor speed is ok but i suggest that you get your ram increased by at least 512mb.
your computer speed will increase drasticaly and all devices will work properly.
just check the requirements of your cd writer it might have some specifications which might not be present in ur pc.
512mb ram will cost u around Rs.2000-2500

that's because the CPU and RAM are out of date by far and your system is struggling to cope with the load that the writer is putting on it... if you have the spare cash I'd suggest upgrading your CPU, RAM, and motherboard.... it doesn't have to be the quickest computer in the world, but if you spend around $300 to $400 AUD then it will get you a computer fast enough to burn Cd's, surf the net and play games...

reminiscence extensive applications can use each and every of the reminiscence you could provide it. i might actual flow extra advantageous than 256mb, based at this technique you're working. i does no longer take below 2 gigs if it particularly is extensive. additionally, the cost of your no longer ordinary force makes a distinction and no rely if or no longer your no longer ordinary force is completed. Your pc will attempt and discover obtainable reminiscence and replica it to the no longer ordinary force for use whilst your RAM is getting used up. in case your photographs card is crappy (like mine), picture extensive classes are going to have a no longer ordinary time working additionally. wish that helps slightly.

Your cpu doesn't not support the Cd burner. Look at the system requirements for it. Your cpu is about less than 1/2 the size of the cpu you need to run that drive!
