The sun is a star, a ball of plasma; that is gas that has been superheated and is reacting violently with itself. The sun is made out of mostly hydrogen and some helium. Energy comes from the sun by nuclear fusion. That is, the sun is so hot and pressurized, that hydrogen atoms are fused together to make helium atoms, and this causes the release of a huge amount of heat and light.

The sun is an ordinary star, it supply Earth with all the light and hear needed for life to exist on this planet. It gets its energy from the fusion of hydrogen into helium, it has been doing this for five billion years and it will do it for at least a few billion more years.

The Sun is composed of hydrogen (about 74% of its mass, or 92% of its volume), helium (about 25% of mass, 7% of volume), and trace quantities of other elements. The Sun has a spectral class of G2V. G2 implies that it has a surface temperature of approximately 5,500 K (or approximately 5,315 degrees Celsius / 9,600 Fahrenheit), giving it a white color which, because of atmospheric scattering, appears yellow as seen from the surface of the Earth. This is a subtractive effect, as the preferential scattering of blue photons (causing the sky color) removes enough blue light to leave a residual reddishness that is perceived as yellow. (When low enough in the sky, the Sun appears orange or red, due to this scattering.)

Sun is belong to star category. it has helium ,hydrogen and other gases . The temperature vary from centre to outer 8000 K to 2000 K . It has many black spot inside varying depent upon time. The black spots are low in temparture compared to its outside bright area.
wide range of radiation is from sun X-ray, radio freq, visible , Ir all... etc.,
The sun is Plasma in state.

only it appaers so big and so bright because it is very near to our earth.
