KRS-ONE, Big Daddy Kane, Boogie Down Productions, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, EPMD, Digable Planets, 2Pac, Dr.Dre, Notorious B.I.G., MC Lyte, Guru, Gang Starr, Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Onyx, Naughty By Nature, Leaders of the New School, Queen Latifah, Latyrx....
And don't call it old school. Old School is late 70's/early 80's artists like Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, RUN-DMC, LL Cool J, Whodini, and UTFO. Call it 90's New School /Gangsta and people will have a better idea of what you're talking about.

Ice T., The Geto Boys, Above The Law, Comptons Most Wanted, DJ Quick,D.O.C., but uhm I hope you don't think "gangsta rap" is all what hip hop is about. You also should check out A Tribe Called Quest, Hieroglyfics (might be spelled wrong) & others from that era. Altho g-rap back in the day had more of a "point" that being modern day "blaxploitation"-google it!

Wu Tang is a different sound than NWA entirely. Try these albums with similiar sounds:
D.O.C. - No one can do it better
Eazy E - E Z Duz It
Ice Cube - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted & Death Certificate
Too $hort - Born to Mack
DJ Quik - Quik is the Name

Public Enemy was one. More political. Run DMC was awesome, though only later and not so well did the gangster-tough stuff. If you can find Ice T's Body Count (Cop Killer) album you might like that. But NWA, in my opinion, was the best ever.

When NWA came out there was no one else like them.
The only person that came close in that time period was Ice T.
A few years later, the "Chronic" album and that's it!
Every body went solo!
