Yes, when i went to the zoo i had stopped by Subways beforehand and thought i had to finish my sandwich/drink before they would let me in.
When i got to the door, they didn't even care...
So the answer is yes, bring on the food!

Depends on what you mean by "food". There is no problem bringing in snacks and bottled water. We do this all of the time with no problem at all. Especially at this time of year do not forget the water.
