Why do we need, someone to do research to state the obvious IE?

if you leave your car at home for short journeys you can help tackle climate change and cut down on obiesty. I am sure everyone can think of others.

Because it gives idiots jobs.

My ex was a perfect example - Cambridge Graduate, barely knew a*se from elbow but was paid large amounts of Government money for saying things like "There is a problem with unemployment in this country today" well, duh!

Because sometimes the 'obvious' ain't true
(flat earth v's round earth; sun goes round the earth are a couple of extreme examples)

sometimes there are other factors which need to be taken into account - exceptions to the rule, or special circumstances.

sometimes it is helpful to actually quantify a solution - rather than to just say "A is better than B" it may be neccessary to know HOW much better is A and by what percentage.
