1.
6x - 0.09 = 5x - 0.35
x - 0.09 = -0.35
x = -0.26

2.
The tax on a purchase is $30, which is 3% of the price.
So if we let a = the price...
(3/100)a = 30
3a = 3000
a = $1000

Hope this helps :)

1.) 6x - 0.09=5(X - 0.07)
Simplify first the right side of the equation.
5 is to be distributed to (x - 0.07)

6x - 0.09 = 5x - 0.35

Add -5x to both side,

-5x +6x - 0.09 = -5x + 5x -0.35
Combine like terms
x - 0.09= -.35
transpose -0.09 to the right side
x= 0.09 + (-.35)
x= -.26
Take note that transposition process is the same as addition property of equality / inequality and it is taking the additive number of a certain number.
2.) If the sales tax rate is 3% and the tax on a purchase is $30, what was the amount of the purchase?
Apply Percentage=Base * Rate Formula
P= $30
R=3% or 3/100
B=?
The formula of Base is B=P/R.
Substitute the given values,
B=$30 / 3/100
=$30 * 100/3
=$1000

1)6x - 5x = -0.07+0.09 (u can take side of the x containing term first then take the other side also contains x term . repeat the step with constant term but take the other side according to the xterm u tat first .)

2)100/3 x 30 =1000 = A

cause 3:30=100:A

1) 6x-0.09=5(x-0.07)
6x-0.09=5x-0.35
6x-5x = -0.35+0.09
x = -0.26
you can plug it into the first equation and it works

2) i always remember (%/100)=(is/of)
so 3% of the amount of purchase x, is $30
so we get 3/100=30/x
cross multiply and solve for x and you get x=1000

1.)6x-0.09=5x-0.35 (0.35=0.07*5)
6x-5x=-0.35+0.09
x=-0.26

2.)Let the amount of purchase be $x.
=>3% of x=30
=>(3/100)*x=30
=>x=30*100/3
=>x=1000
Thus the amount of purchase is $1000.

1.) 6x - 0.09 = 5(x-0.07)

6x - 9/100 = 5(x-7/100)

6x - 9/100 = 5x - 7*5/100 ......................(1)

Multiply through eqn. 1 by 100

600x - 9 = 500x - 35

Putting like-terms together

600x - 500x = -35 + 9

100x = -26

x = -26/100

x = -0.26

2.) If 3% .......is......... $30

Then 100% .......is........ more than$ 30

If more then,divide by the less % ''

(100% / 3%) * 30 = $1000

'' Nb: If less then,divide by the more %

1. 6x - 0.09 = 5x - 0.35 subtract 5x and add 0.09 to both sides to end up with:
x = - 0.35 + .09 = - 0.26

2. let x= price of item
0.03x=tax=30
x=30/.03 x= $1000
price of item before tax = $ 1000

Number has been answered adequately.

2] Consider this:

3% of purchase price is $30, so,

1% of purchase price is $10, so,

100% of purchase price is $1000

1.) 6x - 0.09 = 5(x - 0.07)
6x - 0.09 = 5x - 0.35
6x - 5x = 0.09 - 0.35

Answer: x = - 0.26

Proof:
6(- 0.26) - 0.09 = 5(- 0.26 - 0.07)
- 1.56 - 0.09 = 5(- 0.33)
- 1.65 = - 1.65

2.) $30.00 / 3% = $1,000.00

Answer: $1,000.00

Proof: $1,000.00 * 3% = $30.00
