Number one is to fine a mate that you are compatible with and can be your best friend and most important is to love another that comes first.

I hope you will bear with me. This is a lot of reading but I know it will help answer your question.

There is a song by Neil Diamond called "We"

The lyrics explains it better than I can.

We

Love is all about chemistry
Isn't something you go off to school to learn
Isn't math or ancient history
It's the kinda thing that comes down to simple terms
It's not about you
It's not about me
Love is all about we
Yes it's all about we.

Wanna take you to that great unknown
Show you to a place you've never been
Down a road where only lovers go
But before we leave I wanna repeat again
It's not about you
And it's not about me
Love is all about we.
All about we.

With a string you can tie a knot
But you gotta have something to tie it to
Otherwise all you've got is a knot
But when it ties me to you
It's a whole other thing
Cause love is all about we
Love is all about we.

Love is not about young or old
Touches everybody in a special way
It's a blanket when the nights are cold
It can even keep you dry on a rainy day
And it's not about you
And it's not about me
Love is all about we
Yes it's all about we.

I found the love of my life 1957. I will share a poem that I have framed and hung on the wall along with our marriage license and our picture.

Take my hand and walk with me,
across the sands of time;
Hand in hand and heart to heart.
Husband . . . friend of mine.

We will share the solitude.
And walk in quiet peace.
My heart hears what your heart says,
it listens when yours speaks.

We’ve shared hearts and souls as one,
in perfect harmony;
The laughter and the tears we’ve known,
Are the sweetest melody.

For years have brought us to this place.
Across the sands of time;
We’ll walk together, till the end.
Husband . . . friend of mine.

We still love, laugh and have fun together.

Hope this helps solve the answer to you question.
A vert good question. Thanks.

For me the primary aim of marriage is trust , when there is trust in marriage then basically everything else falls into place , like respect , and love.

I think the primary aim in marriage is companionship through life. Life has so many ups and downs. When you have someone, with whom, to share both the joys and the sorrows, it just makes life more bearable.

Marriage is a construct of society....like the holy family...it helps to control peoples....its mostly not freedom, in a manor of the old T. Different societis have different relatinships...and always!!! the rich peoples profit ...having a lot of women etc.
not the poor...like the myth of odysseus /(sirenes)
He i on top of the ship.....hearing the lust...but beeing disciplined by b. bounded...but the poor p. are in the bottom of the ship...just working....for him...thats a good description of Master and Slave even nowadays...

definite, regrettably rape is available in a marriage. no remember what it says in any holy e book, a husband is to continuously understand his spouse and her will to grant or not provide intercourse. He won't be able to take or call for intercourse from his spouse while he needs without her consent and keen settlement to attain this. If he does than it is considered rape and it would be taken care of as a extreme genuine crime. there is not any excuse for a guy to rape his spouse. He can use his hand and watch porn to excitement himself if the spouse isn't interior the temper or keen to grant intercourse. If the spouse looks to never prefer to grant intercourse, than a guy has a suited to a divorce so as that he can discover an substantial different that's extra in settlement along with his sexual needs.

For me marriage should be a complete partnership of two equals. That partnership must include honesty, trust, passion, respect, admiration, love, and a commitment to do the work it takes to make it last.

Being there for the other person through life's troubles and having a best friend to share my entire life with both memorable moments and not: someone who I can lean on and who knows me more completely than anyone else and who I can tell anything to, and I do the same for them.

To tell the world that the woman I marry is my best friend , lover and soulmate. And to have children with her. In the long run, having someone in old age is also an important thought.

No formal aim. It's someone I love enough that I want her to be a constant in my life.

Twofold: establish the legal framework for survivorship and the like, and as a sign of commitment.
