The world might be even worse off than with oil. Remember, that oil isn't only used in homes, cars, but in the production of thousands of items that we use every day. No oil. No plastics and on and on. It would be a disaster economies and countries would literally cave in. To be frank, if we didn't fight over oil we would surely find something to fight over. Remember, man has been fighting wars for gold, silver, precious stones, water, land, religion and hundreds of other items that man feels he must have great quantities of. The final result? Money. Power.

No, humans will never live in piece, especially as long as there are doctrines out there that tell people to hate each other for having another doctrine. Also if there's no oil, there will always be conflict over borders and resources. Fresh water is already more expensive that fuel in many places on the world. The water shortage could be the next big thing. With a little help of some doctrines, it will lead to a lot of wars.
People are supposed to be intelligent creatures. We are able to coordinate and share our resources, but we just don't.

No. Religion will continue to be a major source of future conflict. When there's no more oil, uranium will become the fuel of choice. The world is moving onto a greener footing so all those coal reserves that America boasts about will become practically worthless. Look at the EU plan to spend £7bn on a fusion reactor in the South of France.
Heads up, Australia - you have the greatest percentage holding of pitchblende-based uranium with 30% of the total worldwide deposits.

Oil is just the latest mineral resource that people are prepared to fight over.
I'm sure if you were transported back 4000 years you'd find people were fighting over flint.
The Romans invaded Britain because of the mineral ores they could plunder. The Europeans did the same to Africa for the Diamonds and Gold.
America has a more recent history of the irrational effect oil and gold prospecting can have.
The answer is a definite no I'm afraid.

If you consider the amount of conflict in the world both before and after oil became commercially important, you will easily see that the answer is NO.

No. Battles would rage over the other fossil fuel sources. For example, the United States has over 50% of the world's shale deposits, Canada has 75% of the world's bitumen deposits (another 22% is in Russia), the United States and Canada have almost 40% of the worlds coal deposits. Once oil runs out, the North American continent is one of the largest sources of alternate fossil fuels.

The causes of the conflicts would change but would not reduce : peolple will fight for what will have replaced oil. People aren't less stupid without oil or money (but they are when the don't watch TV).

Well, if we couldn't run all those tanks & aircraft we would have to be friendlier.
Seriously I think there would be less conflict, unless the oil were replaced by another natural resource like gas.

Definitely NO. You know why, because oil is just one way of Satan and those who follow him, suppose we live in a world where some kind of wood is the most precious thing and there are some countries where this specific kind exists, then would big countries let those ones go with their own wood, no, they would do the same like what America and her allies do to Iraq now. Devil is Devil, anywhere anytime.

As Oil is becoming more and more rare so as life goes on it will only become more expensive as time goes by. This will ensue Cartels and as we have it now wars over oil.
What a question MirroBee, people do not even realise how many things are actually made from oil.
