The best way to illicit confiscated property back from a parent is to impress her with how good you are. Sounds dumb but promise it will work. Why don't you ask her what you have to do to get it back. Maybe try to work out a compromise of a schedule so you can use it a little a day and eventually she will forego the schedule when she sees you being responsible with it and let you have it back. Ask her what she would like to see you do instead of being on the laptop and agree to do that for some amount of time each day.
The hardest thing we have to do as children is understand that our parents only want the best for us, and if we are willing to compromise instead of simply having our way, we will get farther.

Heehee. I am using a laptop, and I'm allowed to use it anytime... as long as I know my responsibilities.
I talked about it with my mom. It would entirely be my fault if grades would be low, but she'd never take the laptop away from me- it teaches me how to be responsible... how to manage my time better.
And, why don't you ask your mom why she took it away? I mean, it's a really stupid reason to take one's stuff away just by being on it a lot (UNLESS, it affects something important in your life...).
What do you do online anyway?
Maybe she caught you doing some stuff. >.<
But anyway, you should give her reasons why you WANT the laptop back. Give your reasons FROM THE HEART.
I mean, why do you really miss your laptop?
If all else fails... ask her why she bought the laptop for you in the first place if she won't let you use it. Or if it won't be used at all. That's just a waste of the laptop's potential.
LOL.

ok, you have to act like you don't care about it. and when you get on for a long time, you should do it after she's asleep. Talk to her about getting a ride to the library to use the computer for home work. Try to show her you don't care about the computer, like start reading magazines and stuff and act like you don't even like the computer. Then one day, tell her you forgot to get some stuff from the internet at the library, and you need to use the computer for a few minutes. Then keep borrowing it. Keep bringing it back. She'll get tired of you doing that so she'll tell you to keep it, if she doesn't think you're just out there surfing. Put it away when you're not using it, that will make her think you're not using it that much.

Make a deal with her that you'll only use it for so many hours a night. Ask her to let you use it for a hour per night, then you give it back to her.
She may be doing this because sitting in front of a computer for so long isn't good for anyone. She may want you to get out of your room and do something more active. It's a healthier thing to do. And honestly, I should listen to my own advice.

Talk to your mom...Find a compromise that both of you can agree on.... Maybe she felt that your time could be better spent on doing something more worthwhile, instead of idling on the laptop..... Make her understand the importance of the laptop, say maybe that you do alot of research on it.... Mothers will always assume that they know best ( why?? b'coz they had been there, done that and they just wanna protect their children the best they can).... Who knows, once she understood and reached a compromise, she might want you to teach her to use it??? Just make sure you talk in a calm, composed manner... Shouting and accusing is not the way...( Bad move)

Ask your mom if you can have it back for a limited time each day. Say, 45 minutes. Tell her that you will do your homework first and then she can see that you only use the laptop for a certain amount of time each night. Don't try for 'clever' - try for 'honest' and you will succeed with your mom.

Try to relate with your mother and be with her all the time especially during summer. Maybe you are only related to your laptop and not to your mother. It is always worthwhile to listen to stories and experiences of your mom especially during summer. Be good to her and ask her what you can do for her and your family like summer time.

It really depends on what you were doing on it that would concern me. However, when you do get it back I would check for webblocker programs and other tracking software because I would bet thats what she is going to do or have done by someone.

Work on your spelling for starters...second, listen to your mom. She knows best. You sound like a spoiled little brat. You're lucky she doesn't take it outside and smash it into a million pieces.

Just buy another one.
I don't see what the big deal is either. I just bought a laptop and I love it. I'm on it all the time.
