It really depends upon the 18 year old ... & the person he/she is about to marry. Everyone is sooo different. If the couple is going into marriage with eyes wide opened, having sought out good, sound council, it could work out. Plenty of folks who get married in their 20s, 30's, etc, go on to get a divorce. So the thing is to avoid the typical snares no matter how old you are getting married.

Honestly, I think it's too young, only because you're just getting out of school and you haven't really experienced the freedom of making your own choices in this world. You haven't lived on your own yet and haven't had to pay your own bills or even had to take total care of yourself yet. I think you should wait until you're at least 25, that way you have a little experience under your belt and will know whether you're truly ready or not to take the next step.

If you love each other enough marriage is worth waiting for.

My girlfriend and I have been together for 12 years and have no intention in getting married in the foreseeable future. We have made our commitments to each other by living together and having children.

Personally we feel that if it ain't broken don't fix it.

Marriage can add a strain on some relationships, if you are commited to each other marriage is only a ring, a piece of paper and an expensive party that other people can ruin.

love is not material and the things listed are material. You do not need a piece of paper or a ring to shoe each other your love.

It's ok but not SMART, what life skills have you developed? Are you ready for tough times, REALLY TOUGH TIMES? Are you financially stable, independently?

You need to grow first... and then make an ADULT decision before you make a childish MISTAKE.

As long as you're entirely sure about your decision.

But it won't hurt you to wait a few more years... That way, you'd have grown more as an individual and would be more experienced and certain about things you're going to do.
