I recently answered a question on answers that asked why people were for or against the war. Every person who was for the war cited 9/11. Are we still so diluted to beleive that Iraqi terrorists attacked us? We went to war with Iraq because they supposedly had WMD's and a possible Al-qaeda links. However recent developments have disproved both of those reasons. Is it because you all dont want to beleive that we are in an unwinable war that you hide behind 9/11 to support the war? I am deeply troubled by this. Or maybe as an inherantly racist culture we just asume that one person with a brown face is as bad as another.

I would also like to clarify before, i get crucified for my coments, that some of my best friends have been sent to Iraq (one of which supposedly volunteered, but in reality was not given a choice but instead told he was going), and thank God most came back physically unharmed. (One suffered an injurty to his hand from a grenade i beleive).

Ok I have been reading your answers and for the most part you all seem pretty knowlegable in this. My question however was why are our civilians intent on supporting the war because of 9/11. I completly understand WHY we ARE there. Bad intelligence. But still why do people claim that getting even with the 9/11 terrorists justifgies a war in Iraq. That terrorist group did not exist in Iraq. Big wow we got rid of Sadam, who ever said he shouldnt be there? Yeah he hates us but so does half of the world right now does that mean that we should start taking other leaders out of office because they hate us?

I have also become concerned with a particular answer that showed signs of beleiving in the war just because our leader does. Questioning our leadership is a patriotic act! Its this kind of thinking that got us out from another tyrranical leader 231 years ago!

Ok I have read your answers and you all seem to be pretty knowlegable in this area. But again my question was why do our civilians continue to justify the war in iraq because of 9/11? I never asked why we are there. I know WHY we ARE in Iraq, bad intell. Ok sure we toppled Sadam, but who ever said that he needed to be overthrown? So he hated us, but then again so does half the world. So then is it ok to take out more leaders because they hate us?

I have also become a little concerned with some answers that suggest that we support the war just because out leaders do. Have you forgotten that questioning our government is the most patriotic thing you can do? So why do you insist on blindly following the president?

so again please try to stick to only the questions that i actually asked and not the ones you think i asked. Thanks

You have every RIGHT to be concerned, because the REALITY IS- WAY too many people in this Country don't care enough to look into the distinctions & details of what's going on in the Middle East- or WHY we're there at all. I feel this "ignorance" is every bit as "dangerous" to our National Security" -as the terrorists who came to visit us- on 9/11. The GRIM reality is; those who can't be "bothered" to find out the Truth- are DOOMED to have that truth visit THEM one day... :(

Why are you confusing Al-Queda and taliban? You mention one in your question and the other in your diatribe. No, we did not find the WMD's, but Bush truly believed they were there. He was given bad intelligience. The same intelligience that Clinton used whenever he talked about it, until it was not politically helpful to say that. By the way, it is Al-Queda that keeps blowing things up over there. We did bring them out with our attack and it has helped us keep a better eye on them. It has weaken them. Now there are all these different offshoots that have nothing to do with the original making and detonating bombs in London. Also, every one who is there volunteered because we have a volunteer military. People in the national guard signed up with the knowledge something like this might happen. I am not for the war, but I am for doing things that our leaders decide my be the best for our country. Remember, Hillary and a lot of them voted for us to be there. They had the same intelligience President Bush had when they were out there saying we need to go. War is a terrible thing, something that should not be rushed into, and President Bush did not rush in. Of course, our plan could have been laid out better, but when has a perfect war been fought. Also, if you would like to see racist cultures, go everywhere else in the world. Every group has someone they look down upon, even though that is not a good thing. I am glad we have a President who stands by what he believes and does not back down just because the polls are bad. What he believes may not be right in your eyes and the eyes of many. And finally, we already won the war, we just lost the public relations battle. Remember, Saddam is gone and we defeated their army, so we won.

We are in Iraq because intelligence from many countries (including the U.S.) agreed that saddam had WMDs and also saddam refused to let UN insepectionist to enter Iraq. So George Bush took the first action to invade them, and they didn't find any. So Iraq's government and military became unstable becuase the U.S. dismantled there army and now the U.S. is trying to build the government and scurity forces back up and introduce democracy at the same time. Now foreign terrorist (Al-qaida for example) are in Iraq to keep it unstable and they're sponsored by other neigboring countries because they don't want western government's influence in the middle east. If you do some research, you'll find that the foreign fighters are the ones doing the suicide bombings and chlorine bombings against the iraqi civilians. There are also Iraqi insurgent groups trying to fight against U.S. and the foreign fighters to drive them out of Iraq. So now U.S. is stuck with the responsibilty to stay and help the government to rebuild Iraq, that is the reason why we are there.

* Iraq government also wants U.S. troops to be there and Al-qaida does also exist and they have many influence all over the world, just check my reference and If you don't agree, just do a little research yourself before you thumbs down me.*

The only reason for the Iraq war was WMD, which, after 9/11, Bush reasonably concluded could not be allowed to remain in unstable hands such as Iraq's. Iraq had WMD -- it used them. ("Chemical Ali" was just condemned to death for doing so.) Iraq was required by the 1991 cease fire agreement (not to mention a dozen UN resolutions) to get rid of them in an accountable manner, and did not do so. Instead, Saddam secretly shipped them off to Syria starting in June 2002, where presumably they still are. If Taliban or al Qaeda come to power in Iraq, they will have access to those materials.

Iraq, Iran, Saudi, Kuwait! Anywhere in the Gulf or where Islam predominates.

Go live work there either as a civilian, or time in the military!

You'll come away with a different viewpoint. That Islam is not democracy, freedom, culture etc as known in the civilised world. Its totally ruled by 1 family regimes, dictators, warlords, fanatics, clergy and a host of organisation who deal in subversion, terror, assassination, murder, plunder and every conceivable crime known in this world.

Laws (rules) are dictated by decree, not by people (Parliaments) in democratic debate and thus voted into law.

Women have less value than animals.

Where Muslims reside in open rural lands they live in filth, ****, throw their garbage out the front door, walk thru it, never clear it away. Only sweep their floors - never clean up in the house in any way.

They live, breed as animals of the lowest order! The mass's totally uneducated - only indoctrinated from the cradle to the grave - by brutal, perverted unelected clerics who rule unopposed by anyone!

Why therefore do civilised elected democratic governments, against the will and voice of their electorate, continually with the lives of our soldiers, support such unelected regimes ruled / led by such despotic people? Why - Why - Why!

The whole structure of Islam albeit Taliban, Hammas or wherever or whatever, has no place in todays world
