Okay, I need serious answers please. It looks like there's some type of mud in the softener tank? Is there any logical explanation why this is?

how long has it been since you've had it serviced? You should have it changed out every 6 months to keep the filters clean in the RO process.

Yea, it's mud all right. It must be removed so you have the propper amount of brine for a propper regeneration. You must be using solar salt. It's a very dirty salt. If you use Morton Pellets in the yellow bag, you won't get any more mud. You can suck it out with a shop vac.

You're getting ripped - a Culligan specialty I hear. I'm sorry to hear your probs.....but cheers me a little: our softener is a 1974.....old-style with just a timer to regulate regeneration and we've wished we had a new one with sensors, etc. But ours has been serviced once in 37 years and works perfectly, so from what you say, we should be thankful !

The tank is suppose to clean itself out every so often, it's set for this. I think you'd better get the guy out and reset your tank otherwise your just wasting your time with it.

it might not be "mud" as per say.. it might be the mineral deposits that have settled...
I notice my water tanks do this.. I take them apart and clean them weekly.. we have very hard water where I am and the deposits settle often.. it looks like mud yes..
