Well, of course its important. The colour of my nails shows what I was doing last. If they are pinkish/reddish, I was probably dealing with raw meat, if they are brownish, I was outside planting something.
It is an indicator as to what I have been previously doing. Unless I wash off.
As for the polish, I don't use it. Not for my nails anyway. Its a lasting paint, and can be used on almost anything......

well.. im a nail obsession freak right now..i have like a whole carboard of nail polish and nail art. i paint my toe nails (cause of piano cant paint fingers) at least 3 times a day to experiement with nail designs,
color is kinda important since different color have different effects , like red is more mature and pink is more sweet..etc
it matches clothes too

i use clear polish......that way if it chips or peels, nobody knows. and i think the reason why some girls are so "particular" about the color of their nail polish is simply beacause girls loves their nails.
so the answer to your question is yes, it IS that important. but i wouldnt expect someone with a green mohawk to understand that anyway

I like to wear nail paint (aka polish), but i can't wear it often because I'm allergic to it. =( It makes me wheeze badly.

I don't obsess..I always paint mine bright colors though. Nothing dark.

YES!!!! I have to have at least ten shades of nail polish!! Red, black, clear, 3 different shades of pink, and everything else!!!!
