after flushing the toilet, so I always look at my hands while washing them. Does anyone know where this fear may have come from? Is there any folklore that might explain this?

I don't know what I am afraid of, my heart just starts racing. I have heard of bloody Mary, but I thought the story went you turn off the lights, spin in a circle 3 times, say I don't beleive in bloody Mary 3 times then look in the mirror and she is supposed to appear, but that doesn't have anything to do with flushing the toilet. I mean in a psychological perspective cause that is not how I was taught the story. ;-)

Thats the thing, my heart doesn't race unless I try to look after flushing the toilet. Idk, its pretty silly isn't it, but I can't explain it.

Sea bat has a point.
Otherwise, look in the mirror, facing your fear to find out why, (have someone else there if need be) and stare at yourself in the mirror, and say out loud: there, now, it's not all that bad. I'm very pretty and I like to look at myself. Having a pretty outfit that makes you feel beautiful will also help.
P.S. There is a spooky horror movie I just remembered about mirrors. I've only seen the advertisements or preview, but in this movie they showed the people covering up the mirrors. It came out in the past couple years.

Rwalke:
Most of our fears have a psychological origin. They come from a bad experience we usually had in childhood, a good thing to do is to get pro help from a Psychologist, and forget about Bloody Mary.
Other people thinks our fear comes from past lives. Who knows? you probably were Snow White's step-mother.

No, there is no folklore to explain your fear. Just ask yourself what you're really afraid of. Is it the unknown? Or are you just afraid that you might not like what you see? Once you know why you are afraid, you can overcome that fear by approaching it with healthy thoughts.

Maybe its not a fear at all, just wondered why you don't look-up while washing your hands? Well, I think just about everyone looks at their hands while washing them. I certainly do, and its isn't because of any fear. Maybe in this way you interpreted not looking into it as "FEAR"?

The mirror cannot hurt you. They can however be communication portals to other realities, especially when they are fogged up. Guard your thoughts carefully.
