No, a pacifier is good for quieting and relaxing a baby before bedtime. It's just when the baby is around 18 months where pacifier use should be cut down. It's not good for teeth after too much.

The person by the name "ezrysb" said it best. No it isn't harmful, but why now. Usually them needing one is seen right after birth.

If your baby is crying and wanting to suckle more, then use one. If the baby is putting things into his/her mouth, it might mean they are teething, and if so, teething "toy" would be better. But if your child is trying to suck their thumb or a finger to sleep, then you can use a pacifier instead.

It is easier to break them from the habit of a pacifier, then it is thumb sucking. But in the end, mom has to decide if she wants one used, and for what reason.

Congrats on your little one.

No way harmful.
Babies need sucking. It is a reflex.
I wouldn't let that baby have it past the age of 3 years old.
When the baby is 18 months it is good to make a rule to have the pacifier either in the car seat or in bed.

No pacifiers are not harmful at any age. But can delay speach past a year and half. And even cause teeth problems when the child gets past 5 or 6 years.

It's a little odd to start them on it at this age. The real question is going to be whether or not the baby will accept it. The hospital tried to give my son one when he was born and he continually spit it out. He never ended up wanting one, except for the oral stage of putting EVERYTHING in his mouth.
It's not about harmful as much as it is about the baby accepting it. The only other difficulty is weening them off of it when they get older.
I'd say if your baby has been fine up to now without one, why use start using it at all? At this stage you might consider teething toys instead.

Nope. They are a god send. Try to get rid of it by 12 months as after this it does get harder to take away

No it's not. It may make it harder to breastfeed, but by age 7 months there should be no problem with nipple confusion.
