hi giraffe, yes, people with this disorder are manipulative, even with the other personalities within themselves, but it's all part of the disorder. they are deviant to the point of trying to hide their condition, but they can't. and yes, this person will cause all sorts of distress to loved ones and friends, if they have any friends left. these people, like all people with mental issues, get dismissed by almost everyone in their life. however, there are medications for this disorder, mind you it is one of the hardest diagnoses to have. be sure to know, they have no control over themselves, what they do, what they say, but for only a small amount of time. i hope this helped! :)

Hmm..-Difficult question. I'm inclined to lean towards maladaptive behavior, -but with a probable physiological basis. Some "minds" I think- just go on the emotional "fritz"- and are not able to COPE with the everyday realities of life. It's hard for them to remain "focused" on one course of action- without going on wandering, wondering Tangents... It's a sad & distressing situation to be a part of... And many of us have either "been there" -or "seen that"... :(

Sorry, but all this crap is created by do-gooders trying to blame something for the inexcusable behaviour of some people. The I'm crazy routine has been milked for all it's worth in the craziest place on the planet, the USA.
