Recently, my internet modem has been disconnecting on me a lot. I leave it on the floor cause thats how far the wire reaches and when I come close to it, all the lights will go out and come back on after a minute. Then when I leave, the lights will go out again and this time stay like that unless I bring my feet within a foot of the modem. It's so freaky. and please no stupid answers

You have a bad power connection. All the ights would not go out if it was just a loss of signal.

Check your modem's power adaptor, power bar if you are using one, extension cord if you are using one.

If everything is OK have the receptacle checked as it mey be defective and/or have a loose connection.

Do you have an extension cord running under a carpeted floor?

If you do, this is an extreme fire hazzard. do not run power cords under flammable material.

Loose, bad or poor connections can cause fires. If you cannot find and correct the problem, hire an electrician to check it out.

When you have it fixed, get yourself a small table and place the modem on the table off the floor.

Do not lengethen the telephone connection. Lengthening it could make your connection more unreliable.

Good Luck

Sounds like you have a broken wire in one of the cables.

Do all the lights go out, including the power light? In that case it's probably a broken wire in the power cable.

If only the DSL / connection light goes out then it's probably a broken wire in the connection to the phone line.

Use something to get this off of the floor.

1) On the floor it is much more likely to build heat.
2) Someone may or might have already stepped on it.

Use a milk crate or a sturdy cardboard box even if necessary. Make sure the device is close to the wall so the power cord isn't stretched out.

Get yourself another, longer phone line. I buy them at wholesale stores or home depot, and run it around the room away from the power cords of any equipment to avoid cross bleeding with electromagnetic fields from the power cords.

That should take care of the problem for about $5-10.00

It is because of the electric waves that are being emitted from it. It is probably interfering with a cell phone or something in your pocket. Try and keep it on a desk or table, and make sure everything is plugged in SUPER TIGHTLY.
