Philosophy itself is counter productive. Its purpose is not to get ahead, but to understand life as a whole.

I think offering the very best service and or products is the best way.
This is an idea from the general theme of financial freedom: 60% of everything will damage you in some way. 35% of everthing is about even money-you get what you pay for. 5% of everything is excellent.
The way to assure maximum opportunity in financial matters, is to do what you do in the 5%. Being among the best is an almost certain way to success regardless of what you choose to do.
Doing as others do will almost as certainly lead you to the top of the bell curve, where most people operate their lives. The top of the bell curve is where that 65% is found. So many people are doing it they swell the distribution near the center. It is always a bad deal. It is also hard to work in those 65% environments. There are many people, all competing and cutting corners. It is a high stress life style and the results are bad for you and your clients.
When you move toward excellence there is more colaboration and an attitude of win/win. It is easier to work in an excellent environment in which you are expected to perform well. You will be able to respond to each person in a spontaneous and responsible way. The outcome for both you and the client will be more satisfactory. Your client base will grow as rapidly as you care to have it grow consistent with your intention to provide excellence. You will feel good about yourself and your alignment with your core values and your clients will feel well served and will bring you more clients like themselves, people who can appreciate excellence.

Hard work, empathy and Intellect. Pick a direction that's realistic for and work hard in that direction. Put your ideas forward with realistic confidence and an open mind. Do good things for those who can do good things for you. Think ahead and stick to your plans.

Pursue excellence for it's own sake, and let the getting ahead take care of itself.
