It's a good career - stressful but interesting. School was very stressful also... 40 hours a week for 2 years with no pay, and being an adult feeling like I was being treated like a child is hard to deal with. But it's doable, and you'll have a great feeling of accomplishment when you're done. It's not too hard to find a job, so I didn't need to relocate... hospitals are usually in need. I found a great job with a medical center right out of school.

Also, pay varies greatly depending on the area of the country. The other answerer said $15-17... that's the low end of the pay scale.

One other thing... there is a lot more to x-ray than bones. We also do barium enemas, operating room cases, etc etc etc... sometimes even in the morgue.

It took me 3 years of school...I had to wait a year to get in...so I took other courses like science anatomy and English....Then did the remaining 2 yrs in x ray school..

School was tough ,but not impossible..
The work is can be hard but rewarding..You have to care about people...Because sick people can be hard to deal with...

I follow the work...Meaning if a hospital in another city wants to pay more...I will move to work there.....

The pay is OK I believe starting pay is around 15-17 dollars an hour but I am not sure any more. But you can pull extra shifts or work weekends at another hospital and make lots more money....

I am pretty happy with my career.
