It usually has to do with the most primary aspects of knowledge and life. It is a sort of foundation for all the other knowledge and subjects we learn. The word philosophy means love of knowledge.

Philosophy is love of wisdom.
It derived from early religion, from cult, but ironically, it stands against it.
Since religion was for a long time the only source of knowledge (mostly false), philosophy opened the door for a new kind of perception, new kind of knowledge.
It deals with the meaning and origin of life, ethical issues, religion (of course:),etc.

technically it is how you look at things basically a perspective of things. like you see the table and a chair because thats what it is to you but i see a chair and a foot stool.
