My home stereo will not play some CDs that I have recorded from other CDs, I want to buy something else maybe a boombox. Is there a way to know if it will play recorded CDs?

Many Cds are protected not only by a philosophical copyright, but by mechanical means to prevent playing and burning. An inaudible code is embedded in the music to prevent copying.

So, the best way to avoid this is buy your music legally so the people who work hard to bring it to you can make a living and feed their families.

When buying a boombox just make sure it's cd-r, cd-rw or mp3 compatable. Most newer models are. Also when burning make sure you get quality cds like a Sony or Maxell professional quality. Some of those cheap cd-r/rw's don't read or record well in players.

just ask the people that work at the place you got it from.
