Here is the situation. I found a place to rent in May. It took until the beginning of June to get a lease signed, and I had to ask 5 times before I could get my copy of the lease. I was given multiple stories about when the past tenants were moving out and I could start showing the house to find roommates. I have basically had to beg for any contact with this guy, and the condition of the house has deteriorated since I signed the lease. I stated to him when I originally viewed the house that I would have to get roommates and could not afford the house alone. After many instances of deceit on his part, I ended the lease, prior to ever occupying the premises. He agreed to put the house on the market to sale as of 8/6/07 and that I would only be responsible for rent until it sells; he now says he has posted on 2 sites but will not post a "for sale" sign in front of the house. Per WA state law, can I break lease if he does not make effort to sell the home immediately as stated?
