24=2(L+9)
24=2L+18
24-18=2L+18-18
6=2L
6/2=2L/2
3=L

Perimeter is the total length of 4 sides.

Deduct 2 lots of 9 (for the length you know). You have 6 feet left. The remaining sides are half of 6 long = 3 feet.
