If you installed it from a legal copy of the OS, you can install it again on the same computer.

I would advise you to purchase a new HDD (different size than the existing HDD), remove the existing HDD, and install the OS on the new HDD.

When it is installed and running as you require, connect you old HDD as a Slave with the new as Master.

OR

Purchase or borrow an USB HDD case and install the old HDD in the case and connect it to your computer with a usb cable.

You can now access any data you wish to recover off the old HDD (unlessit has been damaged). When you are satisfied you have recovered all you are able to recover, fdisk the old HDD (make sure you are fdisk'ing the correct HDD
Now you have a spare HDD.

2 os in the same partition are a problem..rarely had that problem n when i did i just format the whole hard drive and install one OS again.. if ur on vista/xp u may right click on computer then Manage>Storage>disk management and delete the partition of the install u dont one but thats only if it was installed in another partition (extend the volumes to join the other unpartitioned space to the actual hard drive with os ur using).. if theres just one partition for that disk ull have to keep both OS installed unless u TRIED deleting one by bootin in safe mode n delete that folder of the OS thats not being used...but like i said best thing would be to format hd n reinstall windows in such case =\

This is easy just follow these simple steps.
- Click on your start button, then right click your computer icon. When the short menu appears, click on Manage. A second window should open, on the left side of the screen click on disk management. Every partition on your hard drive should be displayed. Then all you have to do is right click on the partition or volume you don't want and click delete.

Try again to format your computer delete all partitions if you had already back up your file. Create partions, suggestion it is good to have more disk system rather than your data partitions. Use option on installing fresh copy to your system. Later you can format your remaining drive on your disk management. God Bless.

the above poster has the best option, however you will likely need to buy a program like partition magic to resize the main partition to include the lost space. simply deleting the partition just makes it go away, your current main partition will remain its same size.
