Are there any thing i need to know before i start skating?

I recommend wearing a helmet and at least long sleeve clothing.
I've seen too many ownage videos where skaters thought it was cool to go helmetless and ended up with cracked heads and concussion.
Play it safe.

ok all the other people arent being serious, ok well i skate, now first make sure you have a comfortable pair of skate shoes (pro) dc, circa, etc....... Any way first learn your stance, this means what foot you push with. Stand in front of the stairs and step up, which ever foot ypu naturally use is the foot you want on your board and the other u use for pushing. Since your new and im a semi pro sponsored skater for west 49, just check there siter out... any way wear a helmet and dont rush into tricks until you are comfortable and have good balance.

Learn how to fall like martial arts experts do, without breaking bones - and practise until you can do it without thinking. Then get on the skateboard and practise again.
Once you have done all that, get your helmet, gloves and pads on and then you are ready to skate.

Puppies have to learn how to sit an stay before they can learn how to roll over and fetch. So, you have to learn the basics of skateboarding before you take on the 1/2 pipe.

Start off on carpet so you can learn to keep your balance.
Always wear a helmet and pads.

Never show the board fear... Seriously don't be afraid of falling or anything (it will happen, wear safety stuff) and be confident in your ability, even if you don't have any.
