Try to earn the highest GPA possible. Also, try to obtain a high SAT score even if you retake the test several times. Join a few meaningful extracurricular activities and take on a leadership role in at least one. Do community service, write a strong personal statement and get some good recommendation letters. The last years of high school are crucial.

That depends on the college you are looking at. You can call specific departments at various colleges and ask them for ideas to help boost your GPA, or ask what GPA they require for admission. With a GPA as low as a 1.0 you may consider going to a junior college for a year or so. Obtaining a good GPA at a JC may increase your chances for admission into a good college. It will show that you have made considerable progress from high school and that you are more prepared for a 4 year school.

I was a pretty horrible student my first two years too and I graduated salutatorian, but I learned a lot. The thing is, 95% of students are going to do fairly well the first three years and then have a terrible senior year because they don't care anymore. If you get really high grades the next two years it's going to give you a great topic to talk about in an interview or application essay, and you're going to look twice as adult and mature as if you were one of the students above. Anyway, admissions officers are tired of losers that do alright in high school and then party and drop out their freshman college year. They'll know you've already learned that lesson.

Yes, my sister was a C average student all her life. But the last two years in high school, she realized that she did want to go to college. She got serious, studied and managed to get A's and B's her last year and a half. She got into Devry and graduated after 3 years with her bachelor's.

Yes, you can still get into a good college. But, you need to focus big time. Make all A's and B's and try to get straight A's. It will be hard, but your goal right now should be to show colleges that you CAN do well. Best of luck!

Yes, you can... IF and only IF you start applying yourself NOW ! My older sister is a prime example, she dropped out of high school and got married.. The marriage didn't work out so she got her GED. She got married again, didn't work out so she started college at age 23 and got her 4 yr. degree. Got married--- got pregnant and decided to go to law school around age 30, she had the baby, took the baby to school and got divorced... Finished law school and failed the bar... Retook the bar 2 more times and she's now FINALLY a corporate attorney... Betcha thought she was a divorce lawyer ! So, I think under ANY circumstances you can achieve your goal.. My sister's not only wanted to be an attorney, but to beat Elizabeth Taylor in the amount of husbands/divorces....Good luck

You need to focus on your studies, fully and completely. Get A's and B's. As far as I know it's only the last two years that colleges look at anyway (at least up here). Do your best, I have faith in you.

make these last two years count. take rigorous courses such as AP English and AP calculus to show that you can perform well in difficult courses. also do well on the SAT or ACT. try to enhance your college application by joining school clubs, doing lots of volunteer work, and maybe even playing a sport.
