It this a frequent thing? If he just does it once in a while maybe he just needs some guy time?
If he does it a lot there are a few possibilities:
#1 He's an alcoholic
#2 He's an insensitive jerk
#3 He wants to cheat or at least act like he doesn't have anyone at home
#4 He honestly doesn't know that you are upset by his behavior
You are going to have to talk to him to find out what's going on. My husband goes out with the guys sometimes and I am fine with it. But he always asks me first and he checks in once in a while during the night.

He sounds immature. Perhaps he doesn't like the responsibility of having such a close relationship with you. I'd suggest that you prepare to move on with your life.
