Often, when I go overseas, after a couple of days i get stomach sick, and , sometimes, diarrhea. Just for one-two days. Same thing happens when I get back. I guess the food is just defferent. Any tips on how to avoid this, and maybe some nonprescription drugs I should take with me just in case?

I've heard eating some local fresh yoghurt is a good aid as it's full of that natural bacteria from that country.

Don't take my word for it though. Research a bit.

Other than that. Just be careful what you eat. Stay away from any foods that could of been prepared / washed in water - fruits that you can't peel / salads. And don't drink tapwater if you feel it's unsafe. Nor ice.
And take immodium, pepto bismol and some hydration sachets..

Bacteria tend to be local. If you spend a lot of time in one area, your immune system builds up a tolerance to the local nasties. But travel the world, and you are introduced to new ones. The more you travel, the older you get, and the more you return to areas, the less it happens.

But to avoid, eat more cooked food, and watch carefully sources of fresh, uncooked fruits and vegetables. Watch the sources of water you drink or used as ice, or used to wash your food. Wash your hands before you eat, and watch that others touching your food should be too.

Yeah, bring any standard over the counter stomach and intestinal remedy you prefer such as pepto bismol. This first site still says take the pepto pills daily, starting the day before you go, and it will help. I don't think they market that anymore, but I have a friend that swears by it. The pills are just easier to travel with than the liquid, but should be washed down with water.
