hmm. maybe she holds a long lasting grudge on lawnmowers because they are allowed to chop up the grass and she is not allowed to dig in it. LOL hopefully she won't get cut up by it...

Oh, great, so the man was beating the dog with a shoe? You should put them inside, where they cannot get out at all when the man is mowing. Dont even give them a chance. As for the cops, they'll probably just have a house arrest period, and *maybe* check shot records. They didnt actually bite anyONE, so you're probably okay, for now. It might count as a first strike, though, I'm not sure (it varies from place to place). Though if your neighbor is a real jerk, you might have to pay for new shoes and lawn mower repairs.

I think your dog just haves an attention to loud things like the lawn mower. If your dog had been hit or something, I know that they will be afraid of whatever hit them, but I never heard of them chasing the lawn mower and nothing happened to it. I think that its normal though.

It won't be funny if you lose your dog! That is serious behavior in a dog. You have to correct this behavior before this goes any further for the protection of the dog. You need a squirt bottle just to get the focus off the tires for a minute. You have to get doing it over and over until the dog realizes you are the pack leader and the boss and they only do as you ask.

LOL.....our dog does the same thing. We have an eskimo spitz and he trys to attack the lawn mower, weed eater, vacuum...u get the pic...pretty much anything that makes noise. He even attacks the water hose when we are watering the yard..I just always put it off on insanity...lmao...Just do like ya said and lock him or her in the house when you are doing yard work...

Our dog does this with the vac and we have always thought that he thinks its a hostile living thing or that the sound hurts his ears. He will actually attack the vac...biting and barking at it the whole time I use it and it doesn't matter if it is the regular part of it or the hose used...he will go after either one. He acts the same way when my small boys make noises through a paper towel tube.

I have no idea, but it's the craziest thing. My son's two Dachshunds want to go after the weed whacker, chain saw, garden tiller--things that are really dangerous--as well as the lawn mower. They also go after my Grandson's Hot Wheel slot cars when they are running fast on the truck.

We had a Chihuahua "Hippy" that used to do the same thing. He would do it to the Lawn Mower, ATV's and Motorcycles. He never got over it. It was cute but kinda dangerous for all involved.

This is why you should go to the dog section - then you will get useful answers...

It is the same reason the dogs chase cars and vaccuum cleaners, its in their nature.

Dogs wernt always owned by people, they are pack animals and they are unsed to hunting in groups. For exmaple sheep dogs - of course- round up sheep...

What ever you dogs breed is this is just natural instinct coming out in him, to round things up...

Keep him AWAY from the lawnmower, he could get hurt, dont laugh or you will make it worse

it's a territorial thing. this invader on her turf-both literally and figuratively is being made to feel unwelcome. also it's possible she thinks the mower is trying to harm you.
as for me, i can leash the dog and walk her as i mow. if i ask her if she wants to go mow the grass she gets as excited as if i were to ask if she wants to go bye bye.
the wife isn't crazy about the dog coming in with green feet, though. lol

My sheltie does the same thing. Maybe it's the noise. My dog also attacks the vacuum cleaner the same way.
