The US can keep him and his stupid wife, we in England have had enough of him.

I disagree, I think we should keep him here. Yes he is in the news constantly, but that is not really his or his wifes fault, that is our fault and our need to know everything that is going on in the lives of celebrities. Altough Beckham does not see the field (he's injured, so he will play when he is fully ready), he has single handidly brought soccer to the attention of everyone in America, something no other player has been able to do at that level. While it may seem annoying, he is bringing much needed support (whether intentional or not) to the sport, and that is never a bad thing. Hopefully soccer will continue to rise in popularity here, as it is the #1 youth sport in America, but is very low at the professional level. The more America becomes educated about the sport, the more people will fall in love with it. I have played for over 25 years, coach, and serve as the President of our club, and I must say I love the attention the sport is getting. He may be overpaid, and over commercialized, but he is paving the way for more bright and shining stars of the sport.

Big soccer fan, however I believe that this move is just a subtle move on the Becham's to switch over to acting of some sort.(Don't let them Tom & Katie) Beckham will proable play a few games but will always come up short.I beleive he was washed up in England and capitalized on an American offer. Just rember that we do get bored easily and the Beckham better make use of their 15, 14 no 13 minutes that's left.

as you can see not everyone is tired of David Beckham. He never plays? He played against DC United last week... and he is going to play on Wednesday. Overrated? His former Galactico teammates at Real Madrid don't think so (we are talking about world-class players praising a fellow world- class player in Beckham). If he was really overrated, then all the Galaxy away games wouldn't be sold out, would it?

It wasn't that bad. Especially considering how the KC fans were razzing Beckham intensely on corners, etc. Fact is, wherever Beckham goes, he is, in himself, a major event. And to try to pretend otherwise by treating him as just another player would be phony. Thing I noticed most about the broadcast is that ESPN needs to be more careful with its field mikes -- I felt like Kevin Hartmann was shouting 4-letter words at me the whole game. And btw, kudos to KC, as the fan atmosphere looked great, despite their having to cram a soccer pitch into a minor-league baseball park.

I'll be honest with you...i figure Beckham was washed up due to his age, and the lack of playing...but he proved a bunch of folks wrong, against DC United...A score and assist..not a bad plus/minus ratio...considering he hasnt played in awhile, and this was his frist start with LA...He might actually make an impact in MLS, because everyone else sucks ***! You know the leading scorer in MLS is on LA...but look what place they are in...Basically they have no team..But I think Beckhamm is about to change some things!!!

its not that hes overrated its that hes alot older now then he used to be, an age where most athletes in america would have been retired a couple years before, and americans made a huge deal about him because his prestige is up with that of MJ or Elway
its just that hes a couple years from the end of his career
plus hes playing injured and only been in 2 games so far.
so no im not tired of 23

Actually, on his MLS debut he played quite well.. and almost grabbed L.A. a point against D.C. on the road while L.A. was down to 10 men and 12 minutes left. He will have a big impact on L.A. Galaxy and the league as a whole.

He "never' plays. How impatient can you be? He should play injured for your benefit. He is overrated but has always been as have most modern soccer players who cannot hold a candle to guys like Pele, Beckenbauer or Cruyff.

I'm curious to know what his motive for coming here is. He was plenty rich in Europe and did not really need this cash in the U.S. I wonder if he has plans to get into the Hollywood scene, like movies, since he did choose L.A. Is he interested in being even more famous?

I acepted the LA offer because it was very lucrative at my time of life. Besides my wife wants to get into movies, as she likes a lot of the 'other' porn movies she finds attractive.
I am still a first class footballer and have plenty of life in me yet. just ask my boss Steve McLaren he cant do without me and I am making him eat his words!
